ANCOVA(Analysis of covariance)
A statistical technique that tests the difference of means between three or more groups while controlling for the effects of covariates, or variables irrelevant to your test.
독립변수 이외에 종속변수에 영향을 주는 잡음인자를 통제하여, 독립변수의 영향을 측정하려는 목적이 있다. 상관관계가 높은 변수가 있다면 분산분석 대신 공분산분석이 효과적이다.
Covariate 공변량
the variables that are not of direct interest to the question we are trying to address.
독립변수 이외에, 종속변수에 영향을 줄 수 있는 잡음인자를 연구자가 통제하려는 변수이다.
